4 Days in Danang & Hoi An, Vietnam - Dec 2024

Writer's picture: DesmondDesmond

As we didn't get to Danang for our 30th birthday 7 years ago, I have decided to stay 2 days here to explore the area and try out some restaurants. I have deliberately gone and try out different places from the last trip. Side note please check your weather when planning this as it rained every day. If you want to see where I went 7 years ago please check out my other blog post dated 2017.

Danang

Accommodation

There are plenty of accommodations in Danang but I think it is best to stay by the beach. I really like the location of the M Hotel Danang as it is close to the bar district and also walkable to the Golden Dragon Bridge etc. However Grab is also a very easy and cheap way to travel around. The rooms were fantastic but the shower temperature is a bit temperamental. Hope they get that fixed soon. The view is also amazing.

Sightseeing and Things to Do

There isn't really much to see within the city but here are the places I looked at. This is really more a beach resort kind of place.

Golden Dragon Bridge

Restaurants and Nightlife

Thìa Gỗ Restaurant Da Nang

One of the most highly rated restaurants in the area and with a good variety of options. However don't come too late as I noticed a lot of the items ran out for guests that came after 7:30pm.

C Bar Da Nang

An al fresco restaurant/bar lounge with a strong oriental vibe for with a more sophisticated crowd. Fantastic live music the night I was there and it's in the heart of the bar area.

Bunker Da Nang

Cute bar with a number of original cocktails. It was pretty quiet when I was there but definitely worth a visit if you are into your cocktails.

Paradise Beach Bar & Cinema Danang

Pretty chill beach side bar with a mixed international crowd for sundowners and late night parties.

La Maison 1888 @ Intercontinental Danang

Located in one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever set foot in, this Michelin starred restaurant was a Christmas Day lunch treat. They normally only operates in the evening only so this is certainly a special occasion. It was pretty expensive by any standard but if you want to look around the hotel this is a good way to get in.

Bánh mì Cô Tiên

Recommended by the Grab driver and highly rated on Google Map, this Banh Mi place was quite hard to find as it is tuck in a small alleyway. It was good but not sure if it is worth the walk if you are not in the area. They are famous for the steak and cheese option.

Chitan Ramen Da Nang

When you only have one thing on the menu, it is hard to get it wrong. This is a very causal off the street Ramen place in the heart of the drinking area.

Muối Biển Seafood Restaurant

A pretty decent seafood restaurant not too far from the hotel. Must come for seafood lovers.

Le Comptoir

Maybe because it was the holiday season, this restaurant was incredibly hard to book. It took me weeks of repeated enquiry to get a last minute confirmation the day before and I am glad that I stayed later in Danang for this. Very reasonably price for what they were offering.

Massages

Nguon Spa Da Nang

A fairly new Instagram worthy spa. The massage was decent but compared to the other one I went to this is definitely more for picture moment. They constantly have deals on Klook so check that out and booking in advance is always recommended. I have never seen Hot Bamboo massage before so I gave it ago. I'm glad I tried it but I probably will stick to Hot Stone next time.

Rosie Wellness Spa

Rosie Wellness Spa gives off a more mature vibe and I think the staff here are more professional compared to Nguon Spa. It is more quiet so it feels more exclusive. I had a wonderful Hot Stone Massage here.

Hoi An

Accommodation

For my own personal reason I stayed at the Little Riverside Hoi An - Little Luxury Hotel & Spa. It is a cute hotel right next to the Anatara. The hotel itself is fine but I am not sure if it was because of the weather the room felt a bit damp and dated. I am not sure if I can justify the price point which I paid for or if all hotels are like that in HoiAn as it is and Old Town. However if you pay double the price you don't have this issue in Anatara as I went inside to have a look.

Restaurants and Nightlife

Phở Liến Nga

Cute Pho place near the party district of Hoi An.

Phở Liến Nga

I can't tell if this was a Vietnamese or Korean restaurant but the Pho wasn't bad. Saying that none of the phos I had was bad,

Anabas Restaurant - Cá Rô Đồng Quán

A great little restaurant specialised in grilled meats and traditional Vietnamese food with a twist. I actually came back twice just to try more things.

Madam Khanh - The Banh Mi Queen

A popular place I walked passed after Yoga. Seemed busy so gave it a go and it was decent.

Cơm Linh - Vietnamese Restaurant

It was full of people one evening so I went back for lunch the next day. Seems they are famous of their asian roast duck and pork belly.

Mr.Dũng Seafood Restaurant

I wouldn't call it a restaurant but a stall. Although the flavour was good, I was a bit disappointed that the 5 star review on Google was bought by offering discount to diners. You can even it at the bottom of the menu in multiple languages.

Massages

RELAXY Hoi An - Foot and Body care

This is situated in the middle of the old town and it has a cute interior. Great to people watch but I only had a foot massage and pedicure which was great.

Five Senses Spa Hoi An

Had a great little facial treatment after lunch as I didn't want my stomach to get pressed. A lot of people area worried about what products are used so knowing that they have a Organic Facial Treatment was reassuring. The hand/arm massage was a bonus.
